Courses
Independent English currently offers 3 courses. They are designed to be fun, interactive, engaging, and challenging. All classes within each course are customized for each individual, considering their interests, goals, and learning style. For this reason, Independent English only offers individual lessons for one person at a time. Independent English recommends one or two classes (45 minutes to one hour) per week, depending on each student’s level and situation.
Young Scholars
In this unique course, students design the curriculum and choose their path of study. Through guided exploration of their interests, they will report their findings, discoveries, and learning through creative productions. This course aims to foster a love for learning, curiosity, and independence. It will help students to develop a wide variety of skills, including: critical thinking, reasoning, creativity, originality, forming opinions, time management, self-assessment, and more. These essential skills, often overlooked in schools, will enable students to adapt, innovate, and excel in the mid-21st century. Due to the nature of this course, students should have at least an intermediate level of English. Confidence & Communication
This course is designed to build confidence in speaking ability and improve communication. It can help professionals, academics, students, travelers, and other global citizens access opportunities all around the world. Though designed with specific core elements, students will take an active role in planning classes to ensure this course is interesting and useful for them.
Young Readers
This course is designed around books, including: The Magic Treehouse series, Harry Potter, and many others. It will help students develop vocabulary, confidence while speaking, listening and reading comprehension, pronunciation, writing skills, and knowledge of grammar. It also provides an opportunity to practice communication, critical thinking, reasoning, typing, and more. This course is a great choice for children, but can be adapted for adults or more advanced students who wish to learn this way.
